Peter A Levine, Ph.D., is the developer of Somatic Experiencing®, a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to healing trauma. He holds doctorates in both Biophysics and Psychology. He is the Founder and President of the Ergos Institute for Somatic Education and the Founder and Advisor for Somatic Experiencing International. Dr. Levine is the author of several best-selling books on trauma, including Waking the Tiger, Healing Trauma (published in over 29 languages). He has received Lifetime Achievement awards from Psychotherapy Networker and from the US Association for Body-Oriented Psychotherapy. He continues to teach trauma healing workshops internationally. Dr Stephen W. Porges, PhD is a Distinguished University Scientist at Indiana University, professor of psychiatry at the University of North Carolina and professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Maryland. He has published more than 400 peer‐reviewed scientific papers that have been cited in more than 50,000 peer-reviewed papers and holds several patents involved in monitoring and regulating autonomic state. He created the Polyvagal Theory and a music-based intervention (Safe and Sound Protocol™). He is author of several books including The Polyvagal Theory: Neurophysiological foundations of Emotions, Attachment, Communication, and Self-Regulation (Norton, 2011), The Pocket Guide to the Polyvagal Theory: The Transformative Power of Feeling Safe (Norton, 2017), and Polyvagal Safety (Norton, 2021), as well as co-author with Seth Porges of Our Polyvagal World: How Safety and Trauma Change Us (Norton, 2023), and co-editor with Deb Dana of Clinical Applications of the Polyvagal Theory: The Emergence of Polyvagal-Informed Therapies (Norton, 2018). Dr. Porges is co-creator with Anthony Gorry of Polyvagal Music™, and a founder of the Polyvagal Institute.

Deb Dana, LCSW, is a clinician, consultant, author and speaker specializing in complex trauma. Her work is focused on using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma in our lives. She is a founding member of the Polyvagal Institute, consultant to Khiron Clinics, and advisor to Unyte.

Deb’s work shows how an understanding of Polyvagal Theory is applicable across the board to relationships, mental health, and trauma. She delves into the intricacies of how we can all use an understanding of the organizing principles of Polyvagal Theory to change the ways we navigate our daily lives. Deb is well known for translating Polyvagal Theory into a language and application that is both clear and accessible and for pioneering Rhythm of Regulation® methodology, tools, techniques and practices which continue to open up the power of Polyvagal Theory for professionals and curious people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.

Deb’s clinical work published with W.W. Norton includes The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy: Engaging the Rhythm of Regulation, Polyvagal Exercises for Safety and Connection: 50 Client Centered Practices, the Polyvagal Flip Chart, the Polyvagal Card Deck, and Polyvagal Practices: Anchoring the Self in Safety. Cathy A. Malchiodi, PhD, ATR-BC, LPCC, LPAT, REAT, holds a doctorate in Psychology with a specialization in research and health psychology, and is a clinical mental health counselor, expressive arts therapist, and art therapist who has spent over 30 years working with individuals with traumatic stress and studying how the arts support reparation, integration and recovery from trauma. She is the founder and executive director of the Trauma-Informed Practices and Expressive Arts Therapy Institute that trains mental health and health care practitioners in medical, educational, and community settings and assists in disaster relief and humanitarian efforts throughout the world. Cathy has given more than 500 invited presentations in the US, Canada, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia and has published numerous articles, chapters, and more than 20 books, including Trauma and Expressive Arts Therapy: Brain, Body and Imagination in the Healing Process, Understanding Children’s Drawings, Handbook of Art Therapy, Creative Arts and Play Therapy for Attachment Problems, and Creative Interventions with Traumatized Children. She has received numerous awards for distinguished service, clinical contributions and lifetime achievements, including honors from the Kennedy Center and Very Special Arts in Washington, DC. A passionate advocate for the role of the arts in health, she is a contributing writer for Psychology Today Online with more than 5 million readers and a visual artist and occasional ukulele and hulusi musician.

Dr Jon Goldin FRCPsych is an Honorary Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He was Head of Service on the Mildred Creak Unit for twenty one years and recently retired from the NHS in Feb 2023. He now works in the Independent sector. Until Feb 2022 he was the Joint Head of Department in Psychological and Mental Health Services (PAMHS). Dr Goldin was Joint Training Programme Director for the Great Ormond Street/Royal London Higher Training Scheme in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for 10 years and retired from this role in March 2022. He is the College Lead on Parliamentary Engagement at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Goldin was the Vice Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Faculty at the RCPsych for 4 years from 2017-2021. He has an interest in public engagement and lobbying around CAMHS and mental health issues and has been interviewed widely on both TV and radio. In both 2020 and 2021 he was a Finalist, and in Nov 2022 he was awarded ‘RCPsych Psychiatric Communicator of the Year, 2022’.

Dr. Stephen Dansiger is a rocker who got sober in the late 80’s and then became a sought after clinician, writer and meditation teacher. He is the creator and founder of the MET(T)A Protocol (Mindfulness and EMDR Treatment Template for Agencies), which utilizes the frameworks of mindfulness and EMDR therapy to create an agency’s primary clinical practice system. Dr. Dansiger is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Certified Therapist who provides EMDR Training and Advanced Topic workshops as Senior Faculty for The Institute for Creative Mindfulness. He is the author of Clinical Dharma: A Path for Healers and Helpers (2016), EMDR Therapy and Mindfulness for Trauma-Focused Care (coauthored with Dr. Jamie Marich), and Mindfulness for Anger Management (2018). Additionally, Dr. Dansiger is the coauthor of Trauma and the 12 Steps: A Trauma Responsive Workbook & Trauma and the 12 Steps: Daily Meditations & Reflections – both companion pieces to the newly updated Trauma & The 12 Steps by Dr. Jamie Marich. His most recent book (with Dr. Marich) is Healing Addiction with EMDR Therapy: A Trauma Focused Guide. His two companies are members of the Connected HealthCare and Wellbeing Cluster and Regional Development Centre at the Dundalk Institute of Technology in Dundalk, Ireland. Steve graduated in 2022 from the Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) program at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied and collaborated with fellow students and faculty including doctors, nurses, academics, researchers and administrators to continue on his quest to find innovative solutions to broaden access and improve quality in mental health care and wellness.

Kim Barthel is a Canadian occupational therapist, multi-disciplinary teacher, speaker, mentor and best-selling author who is active in supporting people in many contexts globally.

She is passionate about understanding complex behavior, neurobiology, trauma-sensitive practice, movement, sensory processing, attachment, and mental health. An advanced NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment) instructor, Kim has 39+ years of practice in helping people to be their best selves. She is a contributor to a number of textbooks on Pediatric Occupational Therapy, NDT, and Trauma, and in 2019 Kim was honored to receive the Award of Merit from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy.
